Saint-Tropez
The Heart of Côte d’Azur Glamour

Luxury Yacht Charter – Impressions across St. Tropez.

Sail to Saint-Tropez, the dazzling jewel of the Côte d'Azur, aboard a premium bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter and experience one of the French Riviera's most iconic destinations in ultimate style and freedom.

Once a quiet fishing village, Saint-Tropez has evolved into a world-renowned playground for artists, celebrities, and discerning travelers from around the globe. From the moment you glide into its picturesque harbor aboard your yacht, you'll be captivated by the scene — a stunning blend of glamour, sophistication, and Provençal charm.

The old port is a spectacle in itself, lined with luxury yachts that gleam under the Mediterranean sun. Step ashore to wander through narrow cobblestone streets alive with color and character. Sip espresso at a café in the Place des Lices, indulge in fine French cuisine at a chic brasserie, or browse stylish boutiques showcasing designer fashion and handcrafted Provençal treasures.

Beyond the harbor, the cultural heart of Saint-Tropez reveals itself in the Citadelle, a 17th-century fortress perched above the town, offering sweeping panoramic views across the Gulf and the open sea beyond. At its foot, the Musée de l'Annonciade houses one of the finest collections of Post-Impressionist art in France — a serene counterpoint to the glamour of the port below.

Saint-Tropez is a haven for food lovers, where the culinary scene is as legendary as the nightlife. No yacht charter here is complete without a long, sun-drenched lunch at the iconic Le Club 55 on Pampelonne Beach, the birthplace of Saint-Tropez chic.

For those seeking the pinnacle of French gastronomy, La Vague d'Or at the Cheval Blanc — honored with three Michelin stars — offers a poetic dining experience overlooking the Gulf.

In the evening, the heart of the village pulses at L'Opéra, where world-class dining meets spectacular live performances, or at the intimate Le Caprice des Deux, hidden in a charming side street and serving refined Provençal soul food.

From fresh seafood platters to delicate pastries like the famous Tarte Tropézienne, every meal is truly memorable.

Despite its global reputation for glitz and luxury, Saint-Tropez retains a unique sense of authenticity. Traditional stone houses draped in bougainvillea, centuries-old olive trees, and sun-drenched squares evoke the enduring beauty of Provence.

This elegant balance between old-world character and modern sophistication is what makes sailing to Saint-Tropez on a bareboat or catamaran charter so extraordinary.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Impressions across St. Tropez.
Luxury Yacht Charter – Impressions across St. Tropez.

As you anchor off the coast, you can explore the vibrant beaches of Pampelonne Bay, enjoy sunset cocktails at a beach club, or simply relax on deck as the golden light of the Riviera dances across the water. Whether you're seeking serene moments or lively nights, Saint-Tropez offers the perfect blend of luxury, leisure, and adventure.

The waters surrounding Saint-Tropez are equally generous to the sailor, among the most rewarding anchorages on the entire Riviera. The Baie de Pampelonne offers a wide, sandy anchorage with reliable holding — perfect for catamarans seeking shallow turquoise waters within easy reach of the legendary beach clubs. Depths range from 3 to 12 metres over a clean sandy bottom, with excellent holding throughout. The bay is well protected from the Mistral and northwesterly winds, though a southeasterly Sirocco can introduce a rolling swell that makes conditions uncomfortable — in such cases, moving to the northern end of the bay or across to the Baie des Canebiers offers significantly better shelter.

For a more sheltered and intimate setting, the Baie des Canebiers, just east of the port, provides calm waters and a sandy bottom, ideal for a peaceful night at anchor within sight of the town's iconic silhouette. Depths here range from 4 to 10 metres over sand with very good holding, and the bay offers reliable protection from the Mistral. It is one of the most popular overnight anchorages in the Gulf precisely because it combines proximity to Saint-Tropez with a degree of shelter that the more open Pampelonne cannot always guarantee.

Further south, the wild Cap Camarat headland hides the secluded Anse de l'Escalette, a hidden cove with crystal-clear water and excellent holding, far from the summer crowds. Depths of 5 to 15 metres over sand and rock make it suitable for both monohulls and catamarans, and its position behind the Cap provides natural protection from northwesterly winds. Swell is minimal in settled conditions, though the anchorage is exposed to south and southeast winds and is best avoided when the Sirocco is forecast.

For those willing to venture slightly further, the Baie de Cavalaire offers wide, well-protected anchorage and a more tranquil alternative to the busier bays closer to town. With depths of 3 to 12 metres over a sandy bottom and excellent holding, Cavalaire is one of the most secure anchorages in the western Gulf of Saint-Tropez — well sheltered from the Mistral by the surrounding headlands, and offering good protection from the southeast as well. A marina and all shore facilities are within easy tender reach, making it a practical as well as scenic overnight stop for crews seeking calm water and a quieter rhythm after the energy of Saint-Tropez.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Impressions across St. Tropez.
Luxury Yacht Charter – Impressions across St. Tropez.

Saint-Tropez is also home to one of the sailing world's most prestigious events. Each autumn, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez transforms the gulf into a breathtaking spectacle of classic and modern racing yachts — a reminder that beneath the glamour, Saint-Tropez remains a town with sailing deep in its soul.

The Mistral, the Riviera's famous northwesterly wind, can arrive swiftly and with force — experienced bareboat sailors will find it exhilarating, while the sheltered bays around the gulf offer reliable refuge when conditions demand it. In the summer months, the thermal sea breeze from the southwest — known locally as the Ponant — brings welcome afternoon sailing conditions across the gulf, making the passages between Saint-Tropez, Pampelonne, and Cap Camarat among the most pleasurable on the western Riviera.

Experience the magic of this legendary destination aboard a premium bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter on the Côte d'Azur — where every voyage to Saint-Tropez is a journey into elegance, freedom, and the true spirit of the French Riviera.

Cannes
The Heart of the French Riviera

Cannes is a gem on the French Riviera, exuding an air of exclusivity and sophistication that enchants the souls of those fortunate enough to stroll its charming streets.

It beckons visitors and celebrities from every corner of the globe, especially during the prestigious International Film Festival, a grand spectacle held annually in May. Other significant events, such as MIDEM, MIPCOM, the Yachting Festival, and the Classic Régates Royales, further underscore the city's cultural significance.

Indulge in a shopping spree on the vibrant Rue d'Antibes or peruse the high-end boutiques along La Croisette, where luxury permeates the air. Cannes's old town, in harmony with the delightful Suquet district, offers breathtaking vistas of the Îles de Lérins.

Wander through the Place du Marché Forville, the beating heart of daily Cannes life, where locals gather each morning beneath colorful awnings to select the finest Provençal produce, fresh flowers, and artisanal specialties.

As you explore the historic streets, the Place de la Castre is a testament to the city's rich history, featuring a sturdy castle, a classic square tower, and the serene church of Notre-Dame-d'Espérance, each narrating a part of Cannes' story.

The Musée de la Castre, housed within the medieval fortress walls, holds a remarkable collection of antiquities and ethnographic treasures gathered from across the Mediterranean world — a fascinating and often overlooked cultural highlight above the glamour of the port below.

For those drawn to hidden architectural gems, the Villa Domergue, a perfectly preserved Art Déco estate tucked into the hills above the city, offers a rare glimpse into the private world of early 20th-century Riviera elegance.

The picturesque harbor is a sanctuary for luxury yachts and superyachts, and the dining scene in Cannes is equally world-class.

On the iconic Boulevard de la Croisette, La Palme d'Or at the Hotel Martinez — boasting two Michelin stars — offers a sensory journey overlooking the sea, as cinematic as the film festival itself. For a second Michelin-starred experience with a more contemporary edge, Le Park 45 at the Grand Hyatt offers a creative, market-driven menu in an atmosphere of refined modern elegance.

For a chic beachside lunch where the atmosphere is always electric, La Guérite, tucked away on the rocky shores of the Île Sainte-Marguerite, is the ultimate place to be for yacht guests. Back on the mainland, the historic Suquet hill hides Le Moulin de Mougins, a legendary name in French gastronomy just a short drive inland, while L'Affable in the city center provides a sophisticated, modern bistro experience that is a favorite among the yachting elite.

For an authentic taste of everyday Cannes, Aux Bons Enfants near the Marché Forville remains one of the Riviera's best-kept secrets — a no-reservation, chalkboard-menu restaurant where traditional Provençal dishes are prepared with the morning's market produce and served in a setting of genuine, unpretentious warmth. Whether you are enjoying a crisp rosé at Carlton Beach Club or watching the sun dip behind the Esterel hills from the terrace of Zplage, Cannes delivers a culinary and social scene that rivals any port on the Riviera.

As the evening deepens, the legendary Bar Américain at the Hotel Carlton remains the most storied address on the Croisette — a place where the ghosts of the film festival's golden era linger over perfectly mixed cocktails and the hum of conversation. For a more contemporary night, Le Bâoli draws the superyacht crowd with its Asian-inspired cuisine, theatrical décor, and a dance floor that doesn't slow down until dawn.

The waters surrounding Cannes offer some of the most rewarding anchorages on the western Riviera. The northern shore of Île Sainte-Marguerite provides the classic Cannes anchorage — a wide sandy bottom with reliable holding and a spectacular view back toward the Croisette skyline. Depths range from 4 to 15 metres over sand with excellent holding, and the anchorage is well protected from the Mistral and northwesterly winds. Sailors should be aware that a sustained Sirocco from the southeast can bring swell into the island's northern bays — in such conditions, moving to the more sheltered western shore offers better protection.

History adds depth to every moment spent here, as the island's Fort Royal once held the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask as its most famous prisoner. For a quieter, more contemplative experience, the smaller Île Saint-Honorat offers a serene anchorage on its western side, where Cistercian monks have tended their vines for over a thousand years, and the silence is broken only by the wind and the sea. Depths here range from 3 to 10 metres over sand, and Posidonia seagrass — anchoring with care is essential to protect the protected seagrass meadows that surround the island. The anchorage is well sheltered from the Mistral and offers a remarkably peaceful overnight stop within easy sailing distance of the Croisette.

The Îles de Lérins, lying just 15 minutes by sail from the Croisette, are among the most rewarding destinations on the western Riviera — two islands of extraordinary contrast, separated by a narrow channel and offering some of the finest anchorages in the area.

The northern shore of Île Sainte-Marguerite provides the classic Cannes anchorage, with depths of 4 to 15 metres over sand and excellent holding, well protected from the Mistral and northwesterly winds. The island's Fort Royal, where the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask was held prisoner in the 17th century, dominates the shoreline above the anchorage — a reminder that these islands have witnessed centuries of Mediterranean history. The restaurant La Guérite, tucked into the rocky shoreline of Sainte-Marguerite, is one of the most celebrated lunch destinations on the entire Riviera — accessible only by yacht or water taxi, and beloved by the superyacht crowd for its exceptional seafood, electric atmosphere, and spectacular setting directly above the sea.

The smaller Île Saint-Honorat, just to the south, offers a serenely different experience. Here, Cistercian monks have tended their vines for over a thousand years, producing wines of genuine distinction that can be purchased directly from the abbey. The anchorage on the western side offers depths of 3 to 10 metres over sand, and Posidonia seagrass — anchoring with care is essential to protect the seagrass meadows. The silence here is broken only by the wind and the sea, making it one of the most contemplative and restorative overnight stops on the entire coast.

Luxury Yacht Charter: A bareboat sailing yacht at anchor before the magnificent Château de la Napoule in the Bay of Cannes.

Closer to the mainland, the Baie de la Napoule to the west of Cannes provides excellent protection from the Mistral and a picturesque medieval castle backdrop, making it one of the most secure overnight anchorages in the area. Depths range from 3 to 12 metres over a sandy bottom with very good holding. The bay is sheltered from northwesterly and westerly winds by the surrounding headlands, and swell is minimal in all but southeasterly conditions — making it one of the most reliable overnight anchorages on the western Riviera regardless of season.

The Château de la Napoule, a Romanesque medieval fortress that rises directly from the water's edge, forms one of the most dramatic backdrops of any anchorage on the coast — particularly at dusk, when the last light of the day turns the stone walls to gold above the quiet bay.

The Port de la Napoule marina offers well-equipped facilities for visiting sailing yachts and catamarans, with berths in depths of 2 to 4 metres and reliable shelter from all wind directions — an excellent alternative to anchoring for crews who prefer shore power and easy access to the village. The harbour town of La Napoule itself is within easy reach, where a handful of excellent waterfront restaurants serve fresh seafood in a setting of genuine Provençal charm, far removed from the glamour and pace of the Croisette just a few miles to the east.

For those who prefer to remain within sight of the city lights, the outer Baie de Cannes itself offers reasonable holding in calm conditions, with the illuminated façades of the grand hotels reflecting across the water in the evening. Depths range from 5 to 20 metres over sand, with good holding in settled weather. The anchorage is open to southerly and southeasterly winds and is best suited to calm summer nights when the sea is flat, and the Mistral is absent — on such evenings, it offers one of the most atmospheric overnight settings on the entire Riviera.

From this anchorage, the entire sweep of the Croisette is visible — the illuminated Belle Époque façades of the Carlton, the Martinez, and the Grand Hyatt reflected across the still water, the soft glow of the beach clubs fading as the night deepens, and the outline of the Esterel hills dark against the sky to the west. It is a view that rewards those who choose to spend the night at anchor rather than in a marina berth — a reminder that the most memorable moments of a Riviera charter are often the quietest ones.

For sailors arriving from the Lérins Islands or from La Napoule to the west, the outer Baie de Cannes serves as a natural staging point before entering the port or continuing eastward toward Antibes and the Cap d'Antibes. In the height of summer, when the bay is at its calmest and the evening air carries the faint sound of music from the beach clubs ashore, anchoring here for a sundowner before heading in for dinner on the Croisette is one of the great simple pleasures of a French Riviera bareboat charter.

Luxury yacht charter – stunning impressions overlooking the harbor of Cannes and its vibrant waterfront.
Luxury Yacht Charter: Breathtaking vistas over the iconic Baie des Milliardaires in Antibes. A majestic megayacht and a sleek sailing yacht lie at anchor.

Just a short passage east of Cannes toward Antibes lies one of the most exclusive anchorages on the entire French Riviera — the Baie des Milliardaires, the legendary stretch of water between the Cap d'Antibes and Juan-les-Pins that has long been the summer gathering point for the world's most extraordinary superyachts.

Here, in depths of 5 to 25 metres over a sandy bottom with good holding, the largest and most impressive private yachts on the Mediterranean drop anchor within sight of the pine-covered shoreline of the Cap — a spectacle that is genuinely unlike anything else on the coast.

The anchorage is well protected from the Mistral by the mass of the Cap d'Antibes to the east, and swell is generally minimal in northerly and westerly conditions. In southeasterly winds, the bay can become exposed and uncomfortable — in such conditions, moving around the Cap to the Baie de la Garoupe offers significantly better shelter.

For bareboat sailors, anchoring here alongside some of the world's most iconic superyachts is an experience that captures the very essence of the French Riviera — glamorous, extraordinary, and entirely unforgettable.

Cannes is also the host of one of the sailing world's most important annual gatherings. Each September, the Cannes Yachting Festival transforms the harbor into the largest in-water boat show in Europe, drawing sailors, builders, and enthusiasts from across the globe.

A few weeks later, the Classic Régates Royales fills the bay with a breathtaking fleet of vintage racing yachts — a reminder that Cannes has always been as much about the sea as about the silver screen.

The Mistral, the Riviera's dominant northwesterly wind, arrives without warning and can build quickly — experienced bareboat sailors will appreciate its power, while the sheltered bays of the Lérins Islands offer reliable sanctuary when conditions demand respect.

Every moment in Cannes feels remarkable, making it an exceptional destination for your premium bareboat charter escape.

Nice
The Jewel of the French Riviera

Luxury Yacht Charter – stunning views overlooking the beautiful coastline of Nice and its vibrant waterfront.

Set sail for the vibrant heart of the French Riviera with a luxurious bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter to Nice. In this captivating coastal city, the allure of Mediterranean beauty, rich cultural heritage, and a refined lifestyle intertwine in perfect harmony.

As one of the most iconic jewels along the Côte d'Azur, Nice presents a remarkable blend of historic charm, elegant harbors, and a bustling calendar of world-class events — making it an indispensable stop for sailors exploring the Riviera.

Approaching Nice by sea unveils a breathtaking panorama of turquoise waters, stunning Belle Époque architecture, and palm-lined promenades that beckon you to explore. Port Lympia, the city's historic harbor, warmly welcomes sailing yachts and catamarans with exceptional facilities and a prime location steps away from the Old Town.

Surrounded by vibrant buildings and lively quays, this port places you at the very heart of Nice's dynamic maritime and cultural landscape. The harbor itself carries centuries of history — it was from these quays that traders, explorers, and artists first fell under the city's spell, a legacy that remains palpable in every sun-warmed stone.

Step ashore and immerse yourself in Vieux Nice, a charming labyrinth of narrow streets, ornate Baroque churches, bustling markets, and inviting cafés. The renowned Cours Saleya Market enchants visitors with its vibrant array of fresh flowers, local produce, and delectable Provençal specialties.

A leisurely stroll along the illustrious Promenade des Anglais offers sweeping views of the Baie des Anges, with its iconic pebble beaches and shimmering azure waters. For those drawn to art and culture, Nice rewards deeply — the Musée Matisse, set within a beautiful 17th-century villa in the Cimiez district, houses the world's most comprehensive collection of the artist's work, while the nearby Musée National Marc Chagall presents a breathtaking permanent collection of the painter's biblical masterpieces.

Each February, the world-famous Nice Carnival transforms the city into a spectacular celebration of color, music, and dazzling parades, while the summer months bring open-air concerts, sailing regattas, and a nightlife that pulses until dawn.

Nice rewards those who seek its gastronomic soul with equal generosity. For the pinnacle of fine dining, Le Chantecler at the legendary Hôtel Negresco — graced with two Michelin stars — offers an experience of extraordinary Belle Époque grandeur, where the cuisine is as theatrical as the gilded surroundings.

For a more intimate Michelin-starred experience, Jan — the celebrated restaurant of South African chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen — blends provençal ingredients with southern hemisphere inspiration in a setting of quiet, refined elegance.

For the true soul of Niçoise cooking, La Merenda in the heart of the old town is an institution — a tiny, reservation-free restaurant where former Michelin-starred chef Dominique Le Stanc serves the most authentic socca, daube, and pissaladière in the city.

After dinner, the Bar du Negresco remains the most iconic address for a late-night cocktail, while Le Rooftop at the Hotel Aston offers one of the most spectacular sunset panoramas on the entire Riviera.

The waters surrounding Nice offer some of the most varied and rewarding sailing grounds on the Riviera. The Baie des Anges provides a wide, open anchorage directly off the Promenade — best suited to calm conditions or light easterly winds, with a sandy bottom and the illuminated Belle Époque skyline as a backdrop. Depths range from 5 to 18 metres over sand with reasonable holding, though the anchorage is fully exposed to northwesterly Mistral winds and southeasterly Sirocco swell alike — it is best reserved for settled summer nights when the sea is flat, and the city lights reflect across the water in a spectacle that is genuinely unforgettable. In any forecast of wind above force 3 from either direction, the neighbouring anchorages to the east offer significantly more security.

A short sail east brings you to the Rade de Villefranche, one of the deepest and most perfectly sheltered natural harbors in the Mediterranean, offering exceptional protection from the Mistral and a dramatic backdrop of terraced hillsides and pastel façades. Depths here range from 10 to 30 metres over a sandy bottom with very good holding. The Rade is protected from northwesterly and westerly winds by the surrounding headlands, and swell is minimal in almost all conditions — making it the most reliable overnight anchorage in the entire Nice area and a first-choice refuge whenever the Mistral is forecast. The small Port de la Darse offers additional berths for visiting yachts, and the harbourfront restaurants of Villefranche are within easy tender reach.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Enjoy breathtaking views of the Bay of Nice from Bar du Negresco, the iconic rooftop bar at Hotel Aston.

Further east, the coves around Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat provide intimate, pine-fringed anchorages with crystal-clear water and reliable holding — among the most sought-after overnight stops on any Riviera itinerary. The Baie de Paloma on the northern shore of the Cap offers depths of 4 to 12 metres over sand and rock, with good holding, and is well sheltered from southwesterly and westerly winds. The Anse de Passable on the northwestern side of the Cap is shallower at 3 to 8 metres over sand — an ideal spot for catamarans — and offers a peaceful, pine-shaded setting with minimal swell in northerly conditions. Both anchorages are exposed to easterly winds and should be vacated if the Levant builds.

For sailors seeking absolute tranquility within easy reach of the city, the Baie de Beaulieu-sur-Mer offers a calm, well-protected anchorage with a charming Belle Époque village accessible by tender. Depths range from 4 to 15 metres over a sandy bottom with good holding. The bay is sheltered from the Mistral by the Cap Ferrat headland to the west and offers reliable protection from northwesterly winds — making it one of the most secure anchorages between Nice and Monaco. Swell from the southeast can occasionally enter the bay during a sustained Sirocco, but conditions remain comfortable in all but the most severe southeasterly weather. The village of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, with its Belle Époque villas, La Réserve de Beaulieu, and the extraordinary Villa Kérylos — a faithful reconstruction of an ancient Greek residence — are all within easy walking distance of the anchorage.

Nice sits at the geographical heart of the Côte d'Azur, making it the ideal base for a Riviera bareboat charter. Sail east toward Monaco, Menton, and the Italian border, or head west toward Antibes, Cannes, and the Lérins Islands — every direction reveals a new chapter of Mediterranean sailing.

The local wind pattern is dominated by the Mistral from the northwest and the Levant from the east — experienced sailors will find the conditions exhilarating, while the sheltered bays and well-equipped marinas ensure that every passage begins and ends in comfort and security. The thermal sea breeze that builds along the coast on summer afternoons adds a further dimension to the sailing experience — a reliable, refreshing wind that fills the sails between Nice and Antibes and makes the westward afternoon passage one of the most pleasurable on the entire Riviera.

With its blend of cosmopolitan energy, historic elegance, and exceptional sailing conditions, Nice stands as a premier destination for luxury bareboat sailing yachts and catamarans along the Côte d'Azur — a city where culture, gastronomy, and the open sea converge in perfect Mediterranean harmony.

Antibes
Maritime Heritage & Riviera Charm

Luxury yacht charter in Antibes: A premium catamaran on turquoise water with a stunning view of the historic harbor town, the stone ramparts, and the snow-capped French Alps in the distance.

Embark on a journey to one of the most authentic and storied gems of the French Riviera with a luxury bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter to Antibes, an essential highlight along any Côte d'Azur cruising itinerary.

Nestled beautifully between Cannes and Nice, Antibes seamlessly blends historic allure, vibrant harbor life, and impeccable yachting facilities — making it a beloved destination for seasoned sailors and luxury yacht aficionados alike.

As you approach Antibes by sea, prepare for a breathtaking experience. The ancient stone ramparts of the Old Town rise majestically from the azure waters, while elegant sailing yachts and iconic superyachts grace the quays of Port Vauban, Europe's largest marina and one of the most prestigious ports in the Mediterranean. With berths for over 1,600 vessels and facilities that rival the finest in the world, Port Vauban is not merely a marina — it is a statement of maritime ambition, a place where the history of seafaring and the pinnacle of modern yachting coexist in remarkable harmony.

Step ashore and lose yourself in the colorful heart of Antibes. The Vieil Antibes beckons you to wander through its narrow, cobbled streets, bustling Provençal markets, and hidden squares adorned with charming cafés and artisan boutiques.

The famous Marché Provençal tantalizes your senses with a feast of local flavors, while the Picasso Museum, nestled in the historic Château Grimaldi overlooking the sea, adds an exquisite cultural highlight to your visit. Picasso himself lived and worked in the Château Grimaldi in 1946, and the collection he left behind — painted in a burst of Mediterranean joy and creative energy — remains one of the most moving artistic legacies on the entire Riviera.

Beyond the museum, the ancient ramparts of the old town, built by the military architect Vauban in the 17th century, offer a dramatic walking route above the sea with sweeping views toward the Cap d'Antibes and the distant Alps — a perspective that has inspired painters, writers, and sailors for centuries.

As evening descends, Antibes unveils its sophisticated Riviera lifestyle. For a remarkable culinary experience, a short stroll leads to Le Figuier de Saint-Esprit, where Michelin-starred Chef Christian Morisset serves exquisite Mediterranean cuisine in a romantic, fig-tree-shaded courtyard.

If you prefer dining with your toes nearly in the sand, Plage Keller at the famous Baie de la Garoupe offers legendary seafood with a view stretching from the azure bay to the Alps. For those seeking the true soul of Antibes, the legendary Le Comptoir du Marché, in the heart of the old town, offers an intimate setting for seasonal Provençal delights.

For a more contemporary dining experience with a theatrical edge, Fouquet's Antibes on the waterfront brings Parisian brasserie glamour to the Riviera in a setting that perfectly captures the spirit of the Côte d'Azur. After dinner, the Absinthe Bar, a hidden gem tucked away in a vaulted cellar, offers a glimpse into the coast's bohemian history — the perfect setting for a digestif and conversation that lingers long into the Mediterranean night.

For sundowners with a view, the terrace of La Siesta beach club remains the most iconic address in Antibes, where the bay's lights begin to shimmer as the sky turns gold above the Esterel hills.

The waters surrounding Antibes and the Cap d'Antibes peninsula offer some of the most rewarding and varied anchorages on the western Riviera.

The Baie de la Garoupe, on the eastern side of the Cap, is the jewel of the area — a wide, shallow bay with a sandy bottom and excellent holding, perfectly sheltered from the Mistral and offering clear turquoise water that rivals the finest anchorages in the Mediterranean. Depths range from 3 to 10 metres over fine sand with very good holding, and the bay is well protected from northwesterly and westerly winds by the Cap d'Antibes headland. The anchorage is exposed to easterly winds and swell from the Levant — in such conditions, move around the Cap to the Baie des Milliardaires for better shelter. In settled summer weather, the Garoupe is one of the finest overnight anchorages on the Riviera, with the lighthouse above the Cap casting its sweep across the water and the Alps visible on the northern horizon at dawn.

Just around the headland, the Anse de l'Argent Faux offers a more intimate, secluded setting, with crystal-clear water and a wild, rocky shoreline that feels worlds away from the glamour of Port Vauban. Depths here range from 4 to 12 metres over sand and rock — holding is good in the sandy patches, but anchors should be set carefully to avoid the rocky outcrops. The cove is sheltered from the Mistral by the Cap d'Antibes massif, but open to south and southeast swell. It is best suited to settled conditions and makes an outstanding lunchtime stop, with snorkeling over the rocky bottom among the finest available within minutes of Port Vauban.

Luxury yacht charter in Antibes: A premium catamaran on turquoise water with a stunning view of the historic harbor town, the stone ramparts, and the snow-capped French Alps in the distance.

Further west, the Baie des Milliardaires — the legendary anchorage between Cap d'Antibes and Juan-les-Pins — offers a wide, deep anchorage with a sandy bottom and excellent holding. Depths range from 5 to 25 metres, with the most comfortable overnight positions in 8 to 15 metres over sand. The bay is protected from the Mistral by the Cap d'Antibes to the southeast and offers good shelter from northwesterly winds — making it the most secure of the Cap anchorages in Mistral conditions. It is exposed to southeasterly swell; in that case, the Baie de la Garoupe on the eastern side of the Cap offers better protection. In high season, this anchorage draws the most extraordinary gathering of superyachts on the entire Riviera — anchoring here in a bareboat yacht, with the world's most iconic vessels as neighbours, captures the essence of the Côte d'Azur in a single, unforgettable evening.

For those seeking a quiet night within easy reach of the city, the outer anchorage of Port Vauban itself offers a convenient, well-protected overnight option, with the illuminated ramparts of the old town as a spectacular backdrop. Depths in the outer roads range from 6 to 20 metres over sand and mud with reasonable holding. The anchorage is sheltered from the Mistral by the town and the breakwater to the northwest, though it is open to southeasterly winds and can be uncomfortable in a sustained Sirocco. In calm, settled weather, it offers a practical and atmospheric overnight stop — the ancient walls of Vauban's fortifications lit gold against the night sky, and the sound of the city drifting softly across the water.

Antibes occupies a uniquely strategic position on the Riviera, making it one of the most practical and rewarding bases for a Côte d'Azur bareboat charter.

From Port Vauban, the entire western Riviera lies within easy reach — Cannes and the Lérins Islands to the southwest, Nice and Monaco to the northeast, and the wild Esterel coastline to the west.

The local wind conditions are defined by the Mistral from the northwest, which can build rapidly and with considerable force, and the lighter Levant from the east, which brings warmer, more settled conditions. Experienced bareboat sailors will find the sailing exhilarating and varied, while the sheltered bays of Cap d'Antibes and the Lérins Islands provide reliable refuge when the conditions demand respect.

Each July, the waters off Antibes come alive with the sails of the Les Voiles d'Antibes regatta — one of the Riviera's most celebrated classic yacht events, and a reminder that this coast has been a cradle of sailing culture for well over a century.

With its rich maritime heritage, cultural treasures, and exceptional sailing conditions, Antibes stands as one of the most rewarding destinations for luxury bareboat sailing yachts and catamaran charters along the Côte d'Azur — where the freedom of the open sea meets enduring Riviera elegance and the vibrant rhythm of coastal life.

Menton
The Pearl of the French Riviera

Experience the sun-kissed elegance of the eastern French Riviera with a luxurious bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter to Menton. In this captivating harbor town, Provençal charm seamlessly intertwines with Italian flair, creating a sense of adventure and exclusivity found nowhere else on the Riviera.

Nestled between the glitzy allure of Monaco and the serene Italian border, Menton dazzles with its pastel-colored architecture, elegant Belle Époque façades, lush gardens, and a relaxed yet refined ambiance — making it an irresistible destination for sailors cruising the Côte d'Azur.

Arriving in Menton by sea unveils one of the Riviera's most stunning vistas. The graceful curvature of the coastline frames the town's vibrant Old Port, where traditional fishing boats and elegant yachts rest against a picturesque backdrop of historic façades and terraced hillsides.

Port de Menton Garavan, a modern and well-appointed marina, boasts superb facilities for bareboat sailing yachts and catamarans, offering an ideal gateway to explore both the French and Italian Rivieras.

Menton occupies a uniquely privileged position — just four nautical miles from the Italian border, it sits at the point where two great seafaring cultures meet, lending the town a dual identity that is reflected in every cobblestone, every dish, and every sunset.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Menton: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.
Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Menton: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.

Step ashore and meander through Vieux Menton, a delightful labyrinth of narrow streets, charming stairways, and sun-kissed squares. The town's Italian heritage is vibrantly reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and lively daily life.

The iconic Basilica of Saint-Michel Archange stands proudly above the old town, offering sweeping panoramic views across the harbor and the glistening Mediterranean Sea. The basilica's baroque façade, set against the backdrop of terraced lemon groves and the deep blue sea, is one of the most photographed and most genuinely beautiful scenes on the entire Riviera — and one that is best appreciated from the deck of a yacht anchored in the bay below.

Menton is renowned worldwide for its exceptional gardens and botanical wonders. The Jardin Serre de la Madone, Jardin Botanique Val Rahmeh, and Jardin du Palais Carnolès showcase rare and exotic plants thriving in Menton's microclimate — famed as the mildest on the Côte d'Azur.

The gardens of Menton are not a side attraction — they are a destination in their own right, drawing botanists, artists, and curious travelers from across the world to marvel at collections that would struggle to survive anywhere else in France.

Menton's gastronomic scene is anchored by one of the world's most celebrated restaurants. Mirazur, perched on the hillside above the town with sweeping views across the bay toward Italy, holds three Michelin stars and has been ranked among the finest dining experiences on the planet.

Chef Mauro Colagreco's menu is rooted in the garden, the sea, and the extraordinary microclimate of Menton — a deeply personal and profoundly moving culinary vision that reflects the town's unique position between two cultures and two countries.

For a more intimate experience, Le Citronnier offers refined Mediterranean cuisine, emphasizing the region's celebrated citrus flavors, served on a shaded terrace overlooking the harbor.

For the authentic soul of Menton's daily life, A Braisière in the heart of the old town serves traditional Niçoise and Ligurian dishes with a warmth and simplicity that is as nourishing as the food itself.

As the evening deepens, the Bar du Port at the Old Harbor remains the most atmospheric address for a sundowner, where the fishing boats rock gently at their moorings and the last light of the day turns the pastel façades to gold.

The waters surrounding Menton offer a series of intimate and rewarding anchorages that perfectly reflect the town's quiet, refined character.

The Rade de Menton, directly off the Old Port, provides a wide sandy anchorage with reliable holding and the town's luminous baroque skyline as a backdrop — one of the most evocative overnight spots on the eastern Riviera. Depths range from 4 to 15 metres over sand and light weed with good holding.

The anchorage is partially sheltered from the Mistral by the Cap Martin headland to the west, though it remains exposed to northwesterly winds in a sustained blow. In such conditions, the Baie de Roquebrune to the west offers more reliable protection. The anchorage is open to southeasterly swell and should be vacated in a developing Sirocco.

In settled summer weather, however, the Rade de Menton is one of the most atmospheric overnight anchorages on the entire Riviera — the baroque campaniles and pastel façades of the old town illuminated against the hillside, the scent of lemon groves drifting across the water as the last light fades over Monaco.

Just west of the town, the sheltered bays around Cap Martin offer crystal-clear water, rocky seabeds rich with marine life, and a wild, pine-scented shoreline that feels untouched by time.

The Anse de Cap Martin provides depths of 3 to 12 metres over sand and rock, with good holding in the sandy patches. The headland offers excellent protection from northwesterly and westerly winds, making this one of the most reliably sheltered anchorages between Menton and Monaco. The anchorage is exposed to easterly winds and southeast swell — if the Levant builds, move to the Baie de Roquebrune for better shelter. The underwater landscape here is exceptional, with rocky outcrops and abundant marine life making it one of the finest snorkeling spots on the eastern Riviera.

The Baie de Roquebrune, nestled between Menton and Monaco, provides excellent protection from the Mistral and a tranquil setting beneath the dramatic medieval village that crowns the hillside above. Depths range from 5 to 18 metres over a sandy bottom with very good holding — this is the most secure anchorage in the Menton area in northwesterly Mistral conditions, with the headlands to both the east and west providing reliable shelter. The anchorage is exposed to southeasterly swell, which can enter the bay in a sustained Sirocco, but in the predominantly northwesterly winds of the summer season it offers outstanding protection.

The medieval village of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, perched above — one of the finest-preserved hilltop villages on the entire coast — provides a dramatic backdrop that few anchorages on the Riviera can match.

For those seeking the most secluded anchorage in the Menton area, the Anse de Cabbé, tucked into the coastline between Roquebrune and Monaco, offers a quiet and intimate retreat that few sailors discover. Depths range from 4 to 14 metres over sand and rock, with reasonable holding — anchors should be set with care to find the sandy patches between the rocky outcrops.

The cove is sheltered from the Mistral by the surrounding headlands and benefits from the same northwesterly protection as the Baie de Roquebrune immediately to the east. It is exposed to southeasterly swell and best suited to settled conditions. The shoreline here is wild and largely undeveloped — a rare quality this close to Monaco — and the water clarity is exceptional, making it one of the most rewarding lunchtime stops on the final approach to the Principality.

Beyond Menton

Set Sail for Italy's Ligurian Coast

For the adventurous sailor, the Ligurian coast stretches eastward from Ventimiglia in a dramatic arc of clifftop villages, pine-scented headlands, and ancient fishing ports, each revealing a different facet of Italy's extraordinary maritime heritage. Sailing conditions along this coast are generally benign in summer, with light to moderate northwesterly breezes and calm seas — ideal for leisurely coastal cruising. However, sailors should exercise caution in unsettled weather, as the steep topography of the Ligurian Apennines can rapidly accelerate winds without warning, and some of the smaller anchorages offer limited protection in deteriorating conditions.

Just 12 nautical miles east of Ventimiglia, San Remo is the natural first port of call on the Italian Riviera — a graceful Belle Époque resort town with a well-equipped modern marina, a lively waterfront promenade, and a charming medieval quarter known as La Pigna that rises steeply above the seafront. The town's famous flower market, the Casino Municipale, and the elegant Corso Imperatrice make San Remo one of the most rewarding stopovers on the western Ligurian coast. The marina offers excellent facilities for visiting yachts, with depths of 3 to 6 metres and reliable protection from all but southerly winds.

San Remo_1.webp
Portotfino_1.webp

Some 85 nautical miles east of Ventimiglia lies Portofino — arguably the most celebrated and most photographed anchorage in the entire Mediterranean. The tiny harbor, framed by a crescent of colorful houses rising steeply from the water, has inspired artists, writers, and sailors for centuries, and remains one of those rare places that exceeds every expectation.

Anchor in the outer bay in depths of 5 to 15 metres over sand and weed — the holding is moderate, so ensure your anchor is well set before going ashore. The inner harbor is reserved for local vessels, but a short tender ride brings you to the quayside, where the famous Ristorante Puny serves legendary Ligurian pasta and fresh seafood at tables that spill onto the harbor front, and where a sundowner at the Bar Sole e Luna feels like the natural conclusion to a perfect sailing day.

Portofino is best visited on weekdays and early in the morning — by midday in high season, the village fills quickly, and the anchorage can become crowded.

Approximately 95 nautical miles from Ventimiglia, the five villages of the Cinque Terre — Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore — cling to some of the most dramatic coastline in Europe, their pastel facades and terraced vineyards cascading down near-vertical cliffs to the sea below. Sailing along this stretch of coast is one of the great visual experiences of Mediterranean cruising, and one best appreciated from the water.

Sailors should be aware that anchorages here are limited and shallow — Monterosso al Mare offers the most practical option, with depths of 3 to 6 metres over sand, but the holding can be poor, and the anchorage is exposed to southerly swell. Sailors are strongly advised to visit the Cinque Terre only in stable, settled conditions with no swell forecast and winds below 15 knots — the exposed anchorages and limited shelter make this stretch of coast unsuitable in anything but the calmest weather.

The Cinque Terre is best treated as a daytime destination, with the villages accessible by tender or local ferry. The hiking trails connecting the five villages are among the most celebrated in Italy, and the local Sciacchetrà dessert wine, produced from the steep terraced vineyards above the sea, is not to be missed.

Blending natural beauty, cultural richness, and effortless elegance, Menton is a hidden jewel for luxury bareboat sailing yachts and catamarans along the Côte d'Azur — where tranquil sailing, botanical splendor, and distinctly French Riviera coastal elegance combine to create a truly remarkable yachting experience.

Whether you choose to linger in Menton's serene anchorages and lemon-scented streets, or use the town as your gateway to the wonders of the Ligurian coast, one thing is certain — there is no finer place on the Riviera from which to begin an adventure.

Menton rewards those who take the time to truly discover it. Beneath the glamour of Monaco to the west and the drama of the Italian coast to the east, this quietly exceptional town offers something that few places on the Riviera can still claim — a genuine sense of place, unhurried by the rhythms of mass tourism, where the morning market, the scent of citrus in the afternoon air, and the soft gold of the evening light on baroque façades create a daily experience of rare and lasting beauty.

For sailors, it is a port of arrival that feels, from the very first moment, like a destination worth returning to.

The Rade de Villefranche is one of the deepest natural harbors in the entire Mediterranean — a fact that has made it a strategic anchorage for centuries, from the galleys of the Savoy dukes to the NATO fleets of the Cold War, and today to the private yachts of those fortunate enough to discover its remarkable beauty.

Step ashore and immerse yourself in the magic of Vieille Ville, where narrow cobblestone streets, arched passageways, and vibrant buildings echo centuries of maritime history.

Wander through the iconic Rue Obscure, a 14th-century covered street that once sheltered the town's inhabitants from naval bombardment, and explore the historic Citadel of Saint-Elme, which now houses museums and cultural spaces that offer fascinating glimpses into Villefranche's storied past.

The Chapelle Saint-Pierre, a modest fishermen's chapel on the harbor front, conceals one of the Riviera's most extraordinary artistic treasures — its interior was decorated in 1957 by Jean Cocteau, who covered the walls with bold, dreamlike frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Saint Peter and the faces of the local fishing community. It is a place of genuine, quiet power, and one of the most moving cultural experiences on the entire coast.

The gastronomic scene in Villefranche-sur-Mer is defined by its extraordinary setting and its deep connection to the sea. La Mère Germaine, perched directly on the harbor front and serving sailors and discerning diners since 1938, remains the most iconic address in the village — a place where the catch of the day arrives directly from the fishing boats moored steps away, and where the bouillabaisse and grilled sea bass are as legendary as the view across the bay.

For a more contemporary experience with a terrace overlooking the water, Le Cosmo offers a refined Mediterranean menu that changes with the seasons and the market.

For those seeking the authentic daily rhythm of the town, the small restaurants hidden in the lanes of Vieille Ville serve honest Provençal cooking at tables so close together that conversation flows naturally between strangers.

As evening descends, the bar terrace of the Welcome Hotel — a Riviera institution that has welcomed artists, writers, and sailors for decades — remains the most atmospheric address for a sundowner, where the lights of the bay begin to shimmer and the sounds of the harbor drift gently across the water.

The anchorages surrounding Villefranche-sur-Mer are among the finest and most varied on the Riviera.

The Rade de Villefranche offers the classic anchorage — with depths ranging from 10 to 30 metres over a sandy bottom with excellent holding, offering reliable protection in all but southeasterly winds. While the bay provides exceptional shelter from the Mistral and northwesterly winds, sailors should be aware that a sustained Sirocco from the southeast can introduce a rolling swell into the bay — in such conditions, the inner harbour of Port de la Santé offers a more comfortable and well-protected alternative. After dark, the pastel town forms a spectacular backdrop and the lights of Nice glow on the western horizon, creating one of the most evocative overnight settings on the entire coast.

For those seeking more sheltered and intimate conditions, the coves along the eastern shore of the bay provide calm, clear water in depths of 4 to 12 metres over a mixed sand and rock bottom — well protected from westerly winds and ideal for snorkeling and swimming directly from the yacht. Holding is good in the sandy patches between the rocky outcrops, though anchors should be set with care. These coves are best suited to northerly and westerly conditions and offer a peaceful daytime alternative to the main Rade when summer crowds gather in the bay..

Just around the Cap-Ferrat headland, the legendary Paloma Beach anchorage offers a more secluded daytime stop in depths of 4 to 10 metres over sand — a favourite of the Riviera's most discerning sailors for its pine-fringed setting and exceptional water clarity. Best suited to northwesterly and northerly conditions, it is a daytime anchorage rather than an overnight stop when winds are variable or southerly.

Further around the peninsula, the Baie des Fossettes provides a quieter overnight option with depths of 5 to 15 metres over sand and reliable holding — well-protected from the Mistral and offering a sense of privacy and tranquility that feels worlds away from the busier ports along the coast. The bay faces southeast and is sheltered from northwesterly and westerly winds by the Cap-Ferrat peninsula, making it one of the most secure anchorages in the area during a Mistral. It is, however, exposed to southeasterly swell, and in a sustained Sirocco, the Rade de Villefranche or the Baie de Roquebrune to the east offer better protection. The water clarity here is outstanding, and the absence of beach clubs or tourist facilities gives the Baie des Fossettes a rare sense of solitude — a quality increasingly hard to find on this stretch of coast

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Villefranche-Sur-Mer: Breathtaking views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.

Villefranche-sur-Mer occupies a uniquely privileged position on the Riviera, sitting midway between the cosmopolitan energy of Nice to the west and the prestige of Monaco to the east. For bareboat sailors, this makes it one of the most strategically rewarding bases on the coast — a single day's sailing in either direction opens up the full range of the Riviera's most celebrated destinations.

The local wind conditions are dominated by the Mistral from the northwest, which funnels through the hills with considerable force in winter and spring, while the summer months bring lighter, more variable breezes that make for relaxed and pleasurable coastal cruising. The depth and natural protection of the Rade de Villefranche make it one of the safest overnight anchorages on the entire coast — a reassurance that experienced sailors appreciate as much as the scenery.

Despite its proximity to the bustling glitz of Nice and Monaco, Villefranche-sur-Mer retains an intimate, authentic character that distinguishes it from the larger Riviera ports — a place where the essence of sheltered sailing, historic allure, and vibrant harbor life converge to create a truly remarkable Riviera experience.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Secluded Luxury & Azure Horizons

Unveil one of the most exclusive destinations on the French Riviera with a luxury bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat — a breathtaking peninsula renowned for its crystal-clear waters, charming harbor village, and some of the most stunning anchorages along the Côte d'Azur.

Tucked away between the glamorous shores of Nice and Monaco, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat serves as a sanctuary of serene elegance, long cherished by royalty, artists, and discerning yacht owners alike.

Approaching Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat by sea is a remarkable experience. Lush pine forests and opulent Belle Époque villas grace the coastline, while the picturesque Port de Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat beckons sailing yachts and catamarans into its idyllic harbor, framed by delightful pastel façades and palm-lined promenades.

The port is small and intimate by design — a deliberate contrast to the grand marinas of Cannes and Antibes — and it is precisely this quality that has made it the preferred haven of those who value discretion and natural beauty above spectacle.

The village itself radiates an air of understated Riviera sophistication. Meander along the harbor promenade, savor leisurely lunches at chic seaside bistros, or delve into the peninsula's cultural gems, including the magnificent Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, with its extraordinary themed gardens overlooking the azure Mediterranean.

Built between 1905 and 1912 by the Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild, the villa is one of the finest examples of Belle Époque excess and artistic vision on the entire Riviera — its nine themed gardens, including a French, Japanese, Florentine, and rose garden, cascade down the hillside in a display of color and fragrance that is best viewed, as the Baroness herself preferred, from the sea.

The coastal walking paths that gently encircle the peninsula reveal spectacular vistas and hidden coves — perfect for serene escapes into nature.

Beyond the villa, the peninsula rewards those who explore on foot. The Sentier du Littoral, a coastal path that winds around the entire headland, passes through wild, pine-scented scrubland, above rocky coves of extraordinary clarity, and through secret gardens that spill over ancient walls — a two-hour walk that reveals a side of the Riviera that no road can reach.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat's gastronomic scene is defined by its extraordinary setting and the quiet prestige that permeates every corner of the peninsula.

Le Cap, the signature restaurant of the legendary Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, holds a Michelin star and offers one of the most celebrated dining experiences on the Riviera — a setting of pure architectural grandeur where the terrace overlooks the open sea and the cuisine draws on the finest Mediterranean ingredients with precision and artistry.

For a more relaxed experience within the same legendary hotel, La Véranda offers an elegant all-day dining experience in a light-filled setting of effortless Riviera style.

At the harbor, Le Sloop has been welcoming sailors and locals alike for decades — a beloved institution where the freshest catch of the day arrives directly from the fishing boats moored steps away, and where a table on the terrace in the evening light is one of the great simple pleasures of the Côte d'Azur.

For the most atmospheric sundowner on the peninsula, the beach bar at Plage de Passable, on the western shore facing Villefranche, offers a front-row seat to one of the most beautiful sunsets on the entire Riviera — the lights of Villefranche beginning to shimmer across the bay as the sky turns gold above the hills.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is home to some of the most sought-after anchorages on the French Riviera, each with its own distinct character, conditions, and appeal.

The Baie de Paloma, on the northeastern shore of the peninsula, is the jewel of the area — a wide, sheltered bay with depths of 4 to 12 metres over a sandy bottom with excellent holding, offering exceptional protection from the Mistral and northwesterly winds. The water here is among the clearest on the coast, and the surrounding pine forest gives the anchorage a sense of seclusion that feels entirely at odds with its proximity to Monaco and Nice. Swell is minimal in northerly conditions but can develop from the southeast — in such conditions, the western anchorages offer better shelter.

The Baie des Fossettes, on the northern side of the peninsula just east of Villefranche, provides a quieter and less frequented alternative with depths of 5 to 15 metres over sand and excellent holding — well protected from the Mistral and with minimal swell in all but southeasterly winds.

The Plage de Passable anchorage, on the western shore facing Villefranche, offers a more open but charming daytime stop in depths of 3 to 8 metres over sand and rock — best suited to calm conditions or light easterly winds, and exposed to westerly swell.

For those seeking the deepest protection on the peninsula, the outer Baie de Villefranche to the northwest provides depths of 10 to 30 metres over sand with excellent holding and reliable shelter from the Mistral — though sailors should be aware that a sustained Sirocco from the southeast can introduce a rolling swell into this bay, making the inner anchorages of Cap-Ferrat a more comfortable alternative in such conditions.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat occupies one of the most strategically beautiful positions on the Riviera — equidistant between Nice and Monaco, and within easy sailing distance of Villefranche, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and Eze-sur-Mer to the east, and the open waters of the Baie des Anges to the west.

For bareboat sailors, this makes it the ideal overnight base from which to explore the eastern Riviera at leisure, returning each evening to the calm, pine-scented anchorages of the peninsula.

The local wind conditions mirror those of the broader Riviera — Mistral from the northwest in the cooler months, lighter and more variable breezes in summer — but the natural protection offered by the peninsula itself means that Cap-Ferrat anchorages remain comfortable in conditions that would make the more exposed bays of the coast untenable.

With its extraordinary natural beauty, refined village life, and world-class anchorages, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat stands as one of the most coveted destinations for luxury bareboat sailing yachts and catamarans along the Côte d'Azur — where elegant cruising, tranquil bays, and rare Mediterranean serenity converge to create an experience that lingers long after departure.

Porquerolles & Hyères
The Riviera’s Most Pristine Anchorages

Escape to a remarkable Mediterranean paradise with a luxurious bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter to Porquerolles, one of the most pristine destinations along the Côte d'Azur. Nestled off the coast of Hyères and protected as part of the Port-Cros National Park, Porquerolles is celebrated for its turquoise waters, unspoiled beaches, and charming island village — making it the quintessential stop for discerning sailors in search of nature, tranquility, and refined simplicity.

The approach to Porquerolles by sea is genuinely magical. Pine-covered hills, glistening white sandy coves, and shimmering turquoise bays unveil themselves long before the island's picturesque harbor comes into view.

The Port of Porquerolles, adorned with colorful façades and imbued with a relaxed Provençal atmosphere, gracefully welcomes sailing yachts and catamarans into a setting that feels both exclusive and wonderfully authentic.

Mooring here places you mere steps from the inviting village square, shaded by graceful eucalyptus trees and lined with delightful cafés, artisan bakeries, and quaint boutiques.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Hyères: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.
Porquerolles_1.webp

The island operates at a pace entirely its own — private cars are banned, the roads are shared by cyclists and pedestrians, and the absence of the noise and urgency of the mainland gives Porquerolles a quality of stillness that is increasingly rare on the Côte d'Azur.

The village of Porquerolles is deliberately preserved to foster a peaceful rhythm of life. Discover the island by bicycle, cruising along scenic paths that meander through lush vineyards, sun-drenched olive groves, and spectacular coastal viewpoints.

The island's vineyards, part of the Domaine de la Courtade and the Domaine Perzinsky, produce wines of genuine distinction — a crisp Porquerolles rosé, chilled and sipped in the shade of a pine tree above the anchorage, is one of the great simple pleasures of a Riviera charter.

The island also conceals a surprising cultural heritage — the Fort Sainte-Agathe, a 16th-century fortress that dominates the harbor, houses a small but fascinating museum dedicated to the island's history and its extraordinary underwater archaeology, including amphorae and artefacts recovered from the surrounding seabed.

Porquerolles rewards sailors who step ashore with a gastronomic scene that punches well above its size.

For a refined island lunch or dinner, L'Orangerie at Le Mas du Langoustier offers the finest dining experience on the island — a Michelin-recognized restaurant set in a lush, secluded valley on the western tip of the island, where the Provençal cuisine is rooted in the island's garden and the surrounding sea, and where the terrace looks out over one of the most serene anchorages in the Mediterranean.

In the heart of the village, Le Pelagos is the sailors' favorite — a charming, sun-dappled terrace restaurant renowned for its fresh, locally caught seafood and its relaxed but sophisticated atmosphere.

For the most authentic island experience, the small café-restaurants around the village square serve simple, honest Provençal cooking at tables beneath the eucalyptus trees, where the pace of life slows to something close to perfection.

As the sun begins to set, the harbor front offers the ideal vantage point for a sundowner — a glass of local rosé in hand, watching the day's last light turn the pine-covered hills to gold above the anchorage.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Porquerolles: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.

Porquerolles is blessed with some of the finest and most varied anchorages in the entire western Mediterranean, each offering a distinct character and a different relationship with the wind and sea.

The Plage d'Argent, on the northern shore just west of the harbor, is the island's most celebrated anchorage — a wide, shallow bay with depths of 3 to 8 metres over a pristine sandy bottom with excellent holding, offering reliable protection from northwesterly winds. The pale sand and remarkable water clarity make it one of the most visually stunning daytime stops on the coast, though sailors should be aware that southerly winds can introduce swell into the bay.

For the most sheltered and secluded overnight anchorage on the island, the Anse du Langoustier on the western tip is without equal — depths of 4 to 12 metres over sand and Posidonia seagrass with excellent holding, exceptional protection from almost all wind directions, and a wild, unspoiled setting that feels entirely removed from the glamour of the Riviera. Swell is minimal here in all but the most extreme conditions, making it one of the most reliable overnight anchorages on the entire coast.

On the northern shore, the Anse de la Courtade offers a convenient and attractive anchorage in depths of 2 to 6 metres over sand, well protected from northerly winds and within easy tender distance of the village, making it the practical choice for sailors who wish to combine the tranquility of an anchorage with easy access to the restaurants and shops ashore.

Further east, the Plage Notre-Dame, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in France, provides a spectacular daytime anchorage in depths of 3 to 10 metres over sand with very good holding — best suited to westerly conditions, as an easterly wind can bring swell into this otherwise idyllic bay.

For the most adventurous sailors, a short passage of just 4 nautical miles to the east brings you to Port-Cros — the wildest and most protected of the Îles d'Or, a national park island where anchoring is permitted in designated areas in depths of 5 to 15 metres over sand, and where the marine life in the surrounding waters is among the richest in the Mediterranean.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Porquerolles: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.
Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Porquerolles: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.

Porquerolles sits at the western end of the Îles d'Or archipelago, approximately 15 nautical miles east of Toulon and 35 nautical miles west of Saint-Tropez — making it an ideal waypoint on any extended Côte d'Azur itinerary.

The prevailing winds in the area are dominated by the Mistral from the northwest, which can build rapidly and with considerable force, particularly in spring and early summer. The sheltered anchorages of the island's western and northern shores provide reliable protection in Mistral conditions, while the eastern bays are better suited to the lighter, more variable summer breezes.

Sailors planning a passage from the Var coast toward Saint-Tropez will find Porquerolles an ideal overnight stop — a place to rest, swim, and restore before continuing east along one of the most rewarding stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean.

Blending untouched natural beauty, authentic village life, and extraordinary anchorages, Porquerolles is an essential destination for luxury bareboat sailing yachts and catamarans along the Côte d'Azur — a place where the freedom of sailing meets the pristine allure and enduring serenity of the Mediterranean.

Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer
The Gateway to the Îles d'Or

Set sail for one of the western Riviera's most rewarding and strategically positioned charter bases with a luxury bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter to Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer. Nestled on a dramatic peninsula that divides the vast Rade de Toulon from the open waters of the Mediterranean, this remarkable village combines an authentically Provençal way of life with one of the highest concentrations of bareboat sailing yachts and catamarans on the entire French coast.

Approaching Saint-Mandrier by sea is to arrive at one of the great natural harbors of the Mediterranean. The Rade de Toulon — one of the deepest and most perfectly sheltered anchorages in Europe — opens before you in a panorama of extraordinary scale, framed by limestone hills, pine-covered headlands, and the distant silhouette of the Îles d'Or shimmering on the southern horizon.

Port Pin Rolland, the principal charter marina on the peninsula, welcomes sailing yachts and catamarans with exceptional facilities and the relaxed, unhurried atmosphere of a working harbor town that has served the sea in every capacity for centuries.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.
Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.

Step ashore and discover a village that has remained, almost miraculously, untouched by the glamour of the Riviera to its east. Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer is above all a sailors' town — its quays lined with fishing boats, its cafés frequented by naval officers and charter crews alike, and its daily rhythm defined by the tides, the wind forecasts, and the ferry that crosses the Petite Rade to Toulon every half hour.

The old village at the tip of the peninsula rewards those who walk its narrow lanes — a cluster of pastel houses above a small fishing harbor, with views across the Rade that stretch from the Arsenal of Toulon to the open sea.

The peninsula's coastal paths offer some of the finest walking on the western Riviera, passing above wild limestone coves, through fragrant maquis, and along cliff edges where the Mediterranean glitters below and the Îles d'Or are visible on clear days with extraordinary clarity.

The Fort de la Croix, a 17th-century fortification that once guarded the approaches to Toulon, crowns the peninsula's highest point, offering panoramic views of the entire Rade.

Saint-Mandrier's gastronomic scene is defined by its deep connection to the sea and the honest, generous traditions of Provençal coastal cooking.

For the finest dining on the peninsula, Le Bord de Mer offers a refined Mediterranean menu on a terrace directly above the water — fresh fish landed that morning, bouillabaisse prepared with the conviction of a lifetime's practice, and a wine list that draws from the surrounding Var vineyards with knowledge and care.

For the authentic daily pulse of the village, the small restaurants along the Quai du Port serve the fishermen's catch at tables where the boats rock gently at their moorings, and the conversation drifts between sailing conditions and the next tide.

The market on the Place de la Mairie on weekend mornings brings the flavors of the Var hinterland to the peninsula — olives, anchovies, tapenade, and the lavender honey that defines Provençal summer.

As the evening deepens, the harbor front remains the most atmospheric address for a sundowner — a glass of Bandol rosé in hand, watching the lights of Toulon begin to shimmer across the Petite Rade as the sky turns gold above the limestone hills.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful harbor town, the vibrant waterfront, and the coastline.

The waters surrounding Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer offer some of the most varied and reliably sheltered anchorages on the western Riviera — a combination of vast, protected roadsteads and intimate coves that rewards sailors in all conditions and at every stage of a cruise.

From Port Pin Rolland, the Îles d'Or — Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and the Île du Levant lie just 15 nautical miles to the southeast and are the natural first destinations for any cruise departing this coast. Along the Var coast to the east, the anchorages of the Anse de Méjean, the Mouillage de Brégançon beneath the Fort de Brégançon, and the wide Baie de Cavalaire each make rewarding overnight stops on a longer cruise toward Saint-Tropez and the eastern Riviera.

Rade de Toulon — 5 to 25 metres · Sand & Mud · Exceptional all-weather shelter. The great natural harbor of Toulon provides depths of 5 to 25 metres over sand and mud with excellent holding throughout. Protected from all wind directions by the surrounding hills and headlands, the Rade de Toulon is one of the most secure anchorages in the entire Mediterranean — a refuge of last resort in severe Mistral conditions that has sheltered warships, galleys, and trading vessels for two thousand years. The most comfortable overnight positions for visiting yachts lie in the Petite Rade between Saint-Mandrier and the town of Toulon, in 6 to 15 metres over sand with easy tender access to the waterfront.

Anse de la Cépet — 3 to 10 metres · Sand · Mistral-protected On the eastern shore of the Saint-Mandrier peninsula, the Anse de la Cépet offers a wide, shallow anchorage in depths of 3 to 10 metres over sand with very good holding. Well protected from northwesterly Mistral winds by the peninsula itself, the anchorage is exposed to southeasterly swell and best suited to the settled conditions of high summer. The water clarity here is outstanding — among the finest on the western Riviera — and the pine-covered hillside above the anchorage gives it a sense of seclusion that belies its proximity to one of France's principal naval bases.

Baie du Lazaret — 2 to 8 metres · Sand · Calm water, ideal for catamarans On the northwestern shore of the peninsula facing the Petite Rade, the Baie du Lazaret provides a sheltered, shallow anchorage in depths of 2 to 8 metres over sand with good holding — one of the calmest and most reliably flat-water anchorages in the area, making it particularly well suited to catamarans. Protected from the Mistral and from easterly swell, it is exposed only to southwesterly winds which rarely build with any strength in the Rade. The bay takes its name from the quarantine station established here in the 17th century, the ruins of which are still visible above the waterline.

Anse de Saint-Elme — 4 to 12 metres · Sand & Rock · Wild & secluded On the southern, seaward shore of the peninsula, the Anse de Saint-Elme faces the open Mediterranean and offers depths of 4 to 12 metres over sand and rock with good holding in the sandy patches — anchors should be set with care to avoid the rocky outcrops. The anchorage is sheltered from northerly and westerly winds by the peninsula above, but is exposed to southerly swell and should be vacated in any sustained southerly or southeasterly forecast. In the settled conditions of a summer morning, with the Îles d'Or visible on the southern horizon and the limestone cliffs rising above, this is one of the most dramatic and rewarding lunchtime stops on the western Riviera.

Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer occupies a uniquely strategic position as the westernmost charter base on the Côte d'Azur. The Îles d'Or — Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and the Île du Levant lie 15 nautical miles to the southeast and form the natural first chapter of any cruise departing this coast. The Baie d'Alicastre and Plage de la Courtade on Porquerolles offer anchorages of extraordinary beauty; Port-Cros, as France's first marine national park, rewards those who spend time ashore as much as those who remain at anchor.

Further afield, the anchorages of the Anse de Méjean, the Mouillage de Brégançon, and the Baie de Cavalaire lie along the Var coast to the east — natural overnight stops on the passage toward Saint-Tropez, which lies 35 nautical miles away. Marseille and the Calanques lie 30 nautical miles to the west, making Saint-Mandrier an equally rewarding base for cruising westward along the Provence coast.

The charter fleet based at Port Pin Rolland — sailing yachts from 37 to 55 feet and catamarans from 40 to 58 feet — is one of the largest and most diverse on the entire French coast, operated by the leading bareboat charter companies in the Mediterranean.

The local wind conditions are dominated by the Mistral from the northwest, which can funnel through the hills with considerable force, particularly in spring and early summer — though the Rade de Toulon and the sheltered western anchorages of the peninsula provide reliable protection in all but the most severe conditions.

Luxury Yacht Charter – Discover Porquerolles: Stunning views overlooking the beautiful coastline.

Sailors departing Saint-Mandrier eastward toward the Îles d'Or will typically find the Mistral on the beam or quarter — one of the most exhilarating points of sail, and one that makes the passage to Porquerolles among the finest on the western Riviera. The 15-nautical-mile crossing of the Rade de Toulon opens onto the Plage de la Courtade in conditions that feel, on a good day, genuinely Caribbean.

In July and August, the thermal sea breeze that builds each afternoon between the heated limestone hills and the cooler sea creates some of the most reliable daysailing conditions on the entire coast — a steady, predictable wind that fills the sails and makes the afternoon passage to the Îles d'Or one of the great pleasures of a western Riviera charter.

With its exceptional charter fleet, its authentically Provençal character, and its position at the gateway to the western Mediterranean's finest island sailing — the Îles d'Or, the Brégançon coast, the wild anchorages of the Maures, and the open passage to Saint-Tropez — Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer stands as one of the most rewarding bases for a luxury bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter along the Côte d'Azur, where the serious business of sailing and the timeless pleasures of the Provençal coast converge in perfect, unhurried harmony.

The Best Time for Yacht Charter

Experience the magic of the French Riviera at sea with a luxury bareboat sailing yacht or catamaran charter along the iconic Côte d'Azur. The ideal sailing months are May through October, when calm seas, warm Mediterranean weather, and vibrant coastal life make every voyage extraordinary.

Spring (May–June) offers mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and blooming landscapes — perfect for exploring Nice, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, and secluded anchorages in peaceful conditions. Sailors should be aware that the Mistral — the Riviera's dominant northwesterly wind — can blow with considerable force in spring, arriving suddenly and building rapidly. While experienced sailors will find it exhilarating, the well-sheltered bays of Cap d'Antibes, the Lérins Islands, and Porquerolles provide reliable refuge when conditions demand respect.

Summer (July–August) brings lively Riviera energy, fine dining, and world-class events — the Côte d'Azur at its most glamorous and most alive. Wind conditions are generally lighter and more variable in the height of summer, making for relaxed and pleasurable coastal cruising.

The Sirocco — a warm, southeasterly wind that originates over the Sahara — can occasionally bring hazy skies, elevated temperatures, and a gentle swell into the more exposed anchorages, but rarely disrupts sailing plans significantly during these months.

Early autumn (September) is arguably the finest time to sail the Riviera — warm waters, tranquil bays, and fewer crowds than the peak summer months, with the golden light of the season casting the coast in its most beautiful colours.

Weather Forecast France by Windy.

As October approaches, the Mistral returns with increasing frequency and force — conditions that make extended bareboat sailing challenging and unpredictable. We recommend planning your Côte d'Azur charter between May and September for the most reliable and enjoyable sailing experience.

Whether you choose spring, summer, or early autumn, a Côte d'Azur yacht charter promises spectacular scenery, elegant coastal towns, and the ultimate Mediterranean freedom. Set sail and immerse yourself in the luxury, beauty, and enduring allure of the Riviera.

Frequently Asked Questions
Côte d'Azur Yacht Charter

Everything you need to know about yacht charters in Monaco — from bareboat sailing to superyacht charters, pricing, contracts, and the ILIOS-YACHTING difference.

Frequently Asked Questions — Monaco Yacht Charter

1. What makes ILIOS-YACHTING your ideal yacht charter partner in Monaco?

ILIOS-YACHTING is a boutique luxury yacht charter specialist offering exclusive luxury yacht charters in Monaco — premium private yacht rentals for exploring the Mediterranean and the Côte d'Azur. Our portfolio includes high-end vessels tailored for discerning clients seeking unique yachting experiences in Monaco. A single dedicated specialist guides you personally from first enquiry to final day aboard, with the highest level of discretion throughout.

2. Can I watch the Monaco Grand Prix from a chartered yacht?

Yes — watching the Monaco Grand Prix from the deck of a private superyacht moored in Port Hercule is one of the most exclusive experiences in the world. A Grand Prix yacht experience requires two separate bookings: the yacht charter itself and a dedicated Grand Prix berth in Port Hercule. Both are extraordinarily scarce and planning must begin a minimum of 18 months to 2 years in advance. Contact us for detailed information and a personalised quote.

3. Can I charter a bareboat yacht directly from Monaco?

Monaco does not offer bareboat charter fleets. However, Monaco is one of the finest destinations to arrive at by bareboat yacht — sailing in from nearby charter bases such as Antibes or Cannes, Port Hercule opening before you as the Rock rises above the harbor. For those who prefer to charter directly from Monaco, our exclusive collection of fully crewed luxury yachts, superyachts, and megayachts is based directly in Port Hercule. Contact us for detailed information and a personalised quote.

4. What types of luxury yachts can I charter in Monaco?

In Monaco you can charter a wide variety of luxury vessels — from elegant motor yachts and classic sailing yachts to magnificent superyachts and megayachts up to 370 ft+ in length. For bareboat sailing, our premium fleet of sailing yachts and catamarans from 37 to 65 feet is available from nearby charter bases in Antibes and Cannes, with Monaco as the crown jewel of your itinerary. Contact us for detailed information and a personalised quote.

5. How much does a superyacht charter in Monaco cost?

Superyacht charter prices in Monaco vary depending on vessel size, season, and itinerary. Weekly charter rates start from approximately € 50,000+ for smaller superyachts. At the pinnacle of the fleet, a megayacht such as the Renaissance — 112 metres (367 ft), 19 cabins, up to 36 guests — commands approximately € 3,000,000+ per week. Contact us for detailed information and a personalised quote.

6. How much does a crewed charter in Monaco cost?

Crewed charter costs in Monaco cover a wide spectrum. A fully crewed motor yacht with captain, chef, hostess, and crew starts from approximately € 15,000 – € 50,000+ per week. Luxury crewed yachts of 25 to 50 metres range from € 30,000 – € 150,000+ per week. Superyachts and megayachts in Port Hercule start from € 50,000+ per week. Contact us for detailed information and a personalised quote.

7. What is the best time of year for a yacht charter in Monaco?

The best time for a yacht charter in Monaco is from May to September. May is extraordinary for the Monaco Grand Prix. June and early July offer warm weather and the Riviera at its most elegant. July and August are the height of the season. September is arguably the finest month — warm seas, golden light, and quieter anchorages.
